THE HAY LOFT

space to unwind

for 2

Unwind, relax, breathe. Imagine a space where time stands still. Climb the steps, reach for a scone, take in the atmosphere.

THE BED AND THE BATHROOM

Choosing The Hay Loft means choosing space, choosing comfort, choosing peace. You’ll find everything you need here, from the super-king bed to the crisp cotton sheets. Whether you want to wallow in the bath, or to take a speedy shower, you’ll emerge refreshed and ready to explore.

THE SITTING AREA AND THE LARDER KITCHEN

Open up the clever kitchen in a cupboard, put the kettle on, make a cup of coffee. Sit on the sofa and think. Or not. Just enjoy the time out.

WHAT ELSE?

Sit out on the terrace, sip something soothing, soak up the peace of Easton. Pass the time with the neighbours, your dog curled up by your feet (or on your lap – we don’t mind), or just enjoy the peace.

Out of the gate, under the archway, and… shop. Discover carefully curated products and fresh inspiration in our shops, The Courtyard for gifts and gardening, and Griffin for books and stationery, or take a seat in The Coffee Room, where the scent of roasted beans and the pages of a gardening book are waiting to transport you for an hour or two.

Eat out, eat in. Visit the Estate’s Pub, The Cholmeley Arms, with its yummy, home-cooked food and inviting open wood fires, or pick up locally-sourced ingredients from Jade’s Farm Shop next to the Pub.

We’ve got our own ‘beach hut’ in the Gardens, which we love to share with you. The Meadow Retreat can be all yours for the day – sit in peaceful comfort, looking out over the ancient Park with with grazing sheep, mewing Red Kites and clacking wrens for company.

Whether you need a simple uplifting facial or a deep tissue massage to work out stubborn knots, Sarah has over 20 years’ experience and offers personally designed treatments for you. She can be found her Revive Salon in the Courtyard. Contact her here for more details.

We’re also lucky to have an amazing yoga teacher, Laura, living in Easton, and she can offer private, one-on-one yoga classes in your cottage or loft during your stay with us. She can be reached at Laura.jekyll@gmail.com or on 07795 908 538.

Breakfast is available at the pub on the Estate, the independently managed Cholmeley Arms in Burton-le-Coggles, a short drive away. These breakfasts are legendary and are well worth the trip. Pre-booking is essential, though, and it is best if you book direct.

MAIN FACTS

  1. You will have unlimited, free access to Easton Walled Gardens during your stay, even when the Gardens are closed to Day Visitors. This perk is available exclusively to our Holiday Let Guests and we ask that you don’t extend it to your friends without asking us first. They would be expected to pay an admission charge.

  2. The Gardens are open to Day Visitors from February to just before Christmas, Wednesdays to Sundays plus Bank Holidays, from 11am to 4pm. The busiest times are during Snowdrop Season and Sweet Pea Season. During weekday working hours, 8 am to 5 pm, there will also be gardeners working to maintain these beautiful gardens.

  3. A Victorian loft, part of the Stable Yard at Easton Walled Gardens, with other buildings nearby.

  4. A traditional Victorian building; there some lowish (around 6 foot) roof trusses so tall people need to take care. Access to the loft is via a stone staircase.

  5. A beautiful loft, perfect for couples - ideal for garden lovers.

  6. Easton Walled Gardens is on Newton's Trail, a map of local attractions. See the map HERE.

  7. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, but they are only allowed in the Gardens when they are closed to Day Visitors, and shouldn't be left alone in the loft, unless they're in a crate. There is a small charge for each dog.

  8. The mobile reception is fair depending on network.

  9. Easily accessible from the A1, which is about half a mile away, on the other side of Easton Park.

  10. Unfortunately, due to the loft’s listed status it has not been possible to make it wheelchair-friendly and as a result it is only accessible via a stone staircase.
